School Board President Patrick Cahalan Picks Up Two More Endorsements in Reelection Bid

Pasadena Board of Education President Patrick Cahalan has picked up endorsements from the California School Employees Association (CSEA) and the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS (PFAR). 

“PFAR partnering with the Pasadena Educational Foundation on the REALTOR Initiative has been a key element in spreading information to the community, especially newcomers to Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre that PUSD can offer their children a quality education,” Cahalan said.

Cahalan is squaring off against Scott Harden in the Nov. 3 election. This election marks the first year of plurality elections in the district. The winner with the most votes will win the seat, even if they receive less than 50 percent of the vote. 

Cahalan was elected to the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education in 2015. Since December 2019, he has served as the board’s president. He is the Manager of Technical Operations for Caltech’s Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. 

He has been endorsed by United Teachers of Pasadena, Foothill Community Democrats, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, and Planned Parenthood Advocates. 

About the CSEA endorsement, Cahalan said, “The classified staff pay our bills, process our checks, run the fingerprinting office, serve in school sites interacting with parents and teachers, and keep our technology running, among dozens of other duties. It’s particularly critical that we are taking care of our staff in these times. As a staff member at an educational institution myself, I’m honored that CSEA has chosen to endorse the campaign.”
