It’s time for some virtual pomp and circumstance.
The Caltech virtual commencement will air at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, at commencement.caltech.edu/watch.
The ceremony will include remarks from Caltech President Thomas F. Rosenbaum and Board Chair David Lee, special remarks from notable Caltech alumni and friends of Caltech, and the conferral of undergraduate and graduate degrees.
During the event, individual student names will be read by the deans and division chairs, just as they would at a typical in-person commencement event.
In addition, the virtual nature of this event provides the college with an opportunity to create a personalized slide for each graduate to accompany the reading of names.
This event, as announced in the April 16 community message from President Thomas F. Rosenbaum and Provost David A. Tirrell, is the first of a two-part celebration of Caltech’s 2020 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral candidates.
First, the Institute will hold the virtual degree conferral and graduation ceremony on Friday. Then, at a later date, the Institute will hold an in-person celebration for the 2020 graduates.
