What is a Mission Project?

A “mission project” is a group of people that have come together in unity and purpose to give themselves in service to others. The whole experience is based on Matthew 25:34-40. Though the beautiful Santa Barbara County is a popular tourist destination attendees will find there are unknown needs, challenges that the cities face, and poverty. Needless to say, they will be busy on the trip.

What is Servant Day?

In order to keep the overall cost of the mission project down the will hold a servant day in which each attendee are a servant to someone (gardening, painting, babysitting, computer work, window washing) and the payment (yes the recipient will pay the “servant” for their hard work) will go to the mission project fund. All the attendee have to do is show up on the day ready to do work and be delightful.

Bonus Features:
• Receiving hours of community service.
• Attendees will get to see Santa Barbara in a new way.
• They will learn what is Jesus’ mission and they are a part of it.
• Each attendee can make closer friendships with other Christian friends.
• They can say, “road trip & camping, hooray!”
• Team building, sore muscles, quiet, stars, sharing the bathroom, joy, new friends.

All youth grades 7th-12th and friends are welcome to attend (Middle School has another mission opportunity on the last week of June).

The trip  will be at Presbyterian Camp & Conference Center, La Sherpa in Santa Barbara. That will be the home base for meals, sleep, and group time. Church staff and attendees will be working during the day at both at the camp and the surrounding community. The total cost will be $199 and a deposit of $100 is due March 11th. Details and packing list will be sent home with receipt of deposit. Please make checks payable to Calvary, noting Youth Mission trip. Scholarships are Available. Food, transportation, housing, t-shirt, and supplies are all included in the cost.
