Central Library Trying Out Curbside Pickup

Published on Monday, May 18, 2020 | 9:35 am

Pasadena’s Central Library has started testing curbside pickup. It’s offered weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the north parking lot at 285 E. Walnut St.

People who reserve materials at pasadenapubliclibrary.net are contacted individually and informed their items are ready. When they show up they’re directed to park and either call or text library staff, who put the reserved materials on a table next to the patron’s parking spot and step back. The patron then steps out and picks up the materials.

Pasadena Public Library says the project has been very successful. “During the first week, May 12 to 15, 155 individuals stopped by to pick up 382 items.”

The library says it’s working on expanding the operation beyond Central Library.

All Pasadena Public Library buildings remain closed to try to slow the spread of COVID-19, but staff are providing reference service by phone at (626) 744-4066, option 7, or email at ask@cityofpasadena.email.libanswers.com.

The library’s website pasadenapubliclibrary.net offers 24/7 access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, research, streaming movies/TV, and other content.
