Children Countdown to New Year, Seconds Before 12 … Noon

Children will have their own version of New Year ‘s Eve celebration during Kidspace Children’s Museum’s “Noon Year’s Eve” on Tuesday, December 31.

The youngsters will count down 30 seconds before the clock strikes 12–noon–when they will release about 2,000 baloons to celebrate the coming of year 2014.

“We’ll countdown the New Year at noon because we’re not going to have toddlers count down at night [Laughs],” said Clint Perry, one of the performers in the Tuesday event.

Clint Perry & The Boo Hoo Crew, a “kid’s rock band” composed of parent musicians, will perform at 11:30 a.m. before the countdown.

“Clint Perry & the Boohoo Crew is a four-piece band,” Perry said. “We do some hip-hops, some rocks, some countries, some Americana–actually it’s all genres.”

Perry’s band takes an extra effort not just in playing music, but in memorizing the children’s names as well and by having an interactive show.

“We memorize kid’s names like crazy and we call them out and we have them play on stage,” Perry said. “We just dare to have fun and make people feel special and engaged in the show.”

Although the group is called a “kids rock band” for its songs such as “Rocket Ship,” “Potty in the Pot!” and “AEIOU,” Perry said his band also caters to families as a whole.

“We specifically cater to families and we want to adults to step back for a second and go, ‘well, this is safe for the families but it’s pretty intense,’” Perry said. “So we just really pride ourselves on being just a really hyper energetic group that really just has a lot of fun.”

The museum is just across Rose Bowl, so the family will not miss out on seeing the floats for the Rose Parade, Perry added.

Clint Perry & The Boo Hoo Crew started to form in the winter of 2011 after Clint had self-published a kids book called “Pack Rat Pat, Don’t Take That!” He went to a few local libraries and read it to the kids but ended up playing a few kids songs to go along with it.
