City officials have announced the activation of the City’s primary cooling center on Labor Day Monday in response to continuing high temperatures.
The Jackie Robinson Community Center will also serve as a designated cooling center on Tuesday and Wednesday in response to the continuing extreme heat expected.
Located at 1020 North Fair Oaks Avenue, the Center will operate on a staggered schedule to accommodate those in need.
On Monday, September 2, it will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Extended hours will be offered on Tuesday, September 3, and Wednesday, September 4, with the facility accessible from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on both days.
This expanded time frame aims to provide ample opportunity for community members to escape the heat.
City branch libraries, which serve as secondary cooling centers, will not be open die to the observance pf Labor Day on Monday, but will open their doors on Tuesday and Wednesday.
