“From Pasadena, with Love,” a campaign to support local businesses which ran beginning Small Business Saturday on November 27 through December 24 has been a success, according to city Assistant City Manager Nicholas Rodriguez.

In a statement issued on January 13, Rodriguez said business owners who participated in the campaign expressed that they had a better Small Business Saturday and their sales were through the roof exceeding their targets for the month, as a result of the citywide marketing campaign.

Businesses across the city participated in the campaign by posting on social media 6×9 sized postcards with a message of gratitude to the community for their ongoing support for local businesses over the last two years.

As part of the campaign, which was created through the city’s partnership with Convention and Visitors Bureau, over 2,000 branded merchandise and experiential prizes were distributed to shoppers.

Prizes range from custom enamel pins and totes to museum admissions, music festival passes and Rose Parade tickets.

Rodriguez said the prizes caught the attention of followers even outside the city, even people as far as the United Kingdom. The campaign was also covered by several media outfits including local dailies, KCAL-9, CBS-2, KNX 1070 and NBC-LA.

According to Rodriguez, between earned media coverage, online organic content and campaign advertisements, including advertisements on social media, “From Pasadena, with Love” generated nearly 1.8 million “impressions,” and $172,000 in publicity value.
