The Human Services Commission will hear a presentation on the Pasadena Police Department community brief for several months, including April, May and June.
The presentation will highlight key statistics and notable incidents from the past month. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Aug. 14 at the Jackie Robinson Community Center.
In total, the department has received a total of 21,500 calls year-to-date (YTD) and 8,713 calls for service in June. Of these, 6,335 were emergency 9-1-1 calls. Calls involving the homeless numbered 186 in June, with 966 YTD.
Significant incidents in June include several high-profile robberies and firearm recoveries.
On June 3, a carjacking led to a vehicle pursuit that was ultimately canceled due to safety concerns, but the suspect was later apprehended in Los Angeles.
On June 11, an armed robbery at a 7-11 store resulted in $450 being stolen. Suspects, described as two Black males in their 30s, remain at large.
On June 22, two neighbors were arrested for robbery and assault after attacking a victim over a disputed tool. The victim sustained minor injuries but was treated at the scene.
The department also reported multiple firearm recoveries.
On June 6, an officer recovered a handgun after hearing a gunshot near Esther Street and North Raymond Avenue. Other firearms were seized in traffic stops on June 12 and June 20, leading to arrests for firearm and narcotics offenses.
Assaults reported in June included a June 16 incident where a suspect brandished a box cutter and attacked a victim outside a coffee shop. The suspect, described as a Black male in his 30s, remains unidentified.
The brief also noted an increase in robbery incidents for June, with 11 street robberies and nine commercial robberies reported. The department advises residents to be cautious and report suspicious activities.
The highest number of collisions occurred on San Gabriel Boulevard and La Tierra Street. The top three crash factors were automobile right of way issues, unsafe speed, and traffic signals/signs violations.
