City Council to Vote on Proposed Water Charge Increase

The City Council is expected during their June 17 meeting to hold a public hearing to receive public comment on a proposed water rate adjustment.

The City Council is looking at a proposal to increase the Purchased Water Adjustment Charge (PWAC) by 10 cents per billing, effective October 2013 and an additional 10 cents per billing effective October 2014.

The City Council is expected to vote on whether to approve the PWAC rate increases and formula implementation.

In other water-related matters, the City Council is expected on whether they will authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with the Zusser Company, Inc., who will provide labor, equipment and materials for the construction of Phase I in the Sunset Reservoir Water Treatment Project.

Phase I will include disinfecting the facility. The proposed contract is not expected to exceed more than $2,076,168.

And water-related matter will see the City Council deciding on whether to enter to a contract with the Southern Contracting Company to provide labor and materials for the Chapman Well Electrical upgrades. The contract is not expected to exceed $287,100.

Also, Dianne Philibosian is expected to be appointed to the Pasadena Center Operating Company Board, Neil Kleinman to the Transportation Advisory Commission, and Patricia Trollman and Ellie Podway to the Senior Commission.

Paul Martin is expected to be reappointed to the Historic Preservation Commission, Beth Leyden to the Pasadena Community Access Corporation Board, Ann Marie Hickabottom to the Planning Commission, and Lisa Jeffery to the Recreation and Parks Commission.
