City Opens Two Recycling Locations For Christmas Trees

Published on Monday, December 26, 2022 | 5:28 pm

Local residents can drop off their Christmas Trees for recycling from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., until Jan. 3 at several locations.

Curbside pickup for Christmas trees will be available to Pasadena’s solid waste customers on their regularly scheduled collection days and routes beginning Jan. 3 through Jan. 13.

Christmas trees may be trimmed to fit in yard waste containers (black lid) for recycling.

According to the Christmas Tree Recycling Guide, when Christmas trees and other organic materials like food are sent to the landfill, they release methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times as potent as carbon dioxide in warming the atmosphere.

Christmas Trees can be dropped off at:

  • Eaton Blanche Park, 3100 E. Del Mar Blvd. Bring your tree to the parking lot on Millicent Way.
  • Robinson Park. 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. Bring your tree to the parking lot on Morton Street.

Please remove all stands, ornaments and lights before dropping off your tree.

The recycled trees are made into mulch, which is used to improve soil health at public parks, local farms and homes.
