The city has reopened the Pasadena’s La Pintoresca Branch Library to the public two months after the facility was closed for upgrades.

The library branch reopened earlier this week, Michelle Perera, Director of Libraries and Information Services said. It is located at 1355 N. Raymond Ave.

The recently reopened library was closed from October 18 through December 7 for a full replacement of its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

According to the Pasadena city manager’s newsletter, the work that was done included the installation of new outdoor condensing units, indoor fan coil units, piping, controls, metal ductwork, elbows, fittings, and HVAC control system.

The complete overhaul and replacement of the previous HVAC system was necessary, according to a Citywide Building Assessment project performed in 2017, which found that the previous system needed continual maintenance repairs to extend its service life.

It was also discovered that some replacement parts for the aging and antiquated HVAC system were no longer available.

The La Pintoresca Branch Library has gone through several modifications in the past, including the installation of an HVAC system.
