The city is working with local residents having trouble paying their municipal services bill as a result of financial hardship brought on by the Coronavirus outbreak.

“Although PWP has not developed a specific financial assistance plan to address Covid-19, the city recognizes that financial hardships may affect customers for a variety of reasons even in the best of times,” Lisa Derderian, the city’s public information officer. “The city will continue to work with its utility customers to make reasonable payment arrangements should they have difficulty paying for services as is its practice all of the time.”

Before a person is shut off for non-payment an extended noticing period is provided and the City offers Project APPLE assistance. APPLE is a program that offers payment assistance (one time request, per year) to customers who are in delinquent status and in jeopardy of having services disconnected

The virus could lead to work stoppages and loss of income as events are canceled and some local businesses shut down for extended periods.
