City’s Hearing Officer to Conduct Three Hearings On Wednesday

Pasadena’s Hearing Officer will conduct three virtual public hearings on Wednesday, June 17, starting at 5:30 p.m. 

Members of the public can watch the hearing on Zoom and may submit comments in advance, or as the hearing is in progress. 

Two regular cases and one minor case are on the schedule for Wednesday’s public hearing, according to the agenda. 

The minor case pertains to the property at 440 North Oak Ave., where the owner has submitted a Minor Variance application to allow 30-foot-four-inch front yard setback where the Zoning Code requires a minimum front yard setback of 49 feet and 10 7/8 inches. The owner has also applied for a Private Tree Removal permit so he can remove three native trees – two California Fan palms and one Coast Live Oak tree. 

The owner’s request is associated with a new three-unit multi-family residential project located within the RM-16 (residential multi-family, 16 units per acre) zoning district. 

At 941-943 East California Blvd., the applicant has submitted a Tentative Parcel Map application to allow for the creation of four air parcels on one land lot for residential condominium purposes. The residential project has received Consolidated Design Review approval, and the application to be heard Wednesday concerns only the creation of air parcels that would allow the sale of each dwelling unit. 

The application does not address the design or construction of the four-unit project and does not include any proposed changes to the previous Design Review approval, a hearing notice said. 

The other case pertains to 351 Adena Street in Pasadena, for which the applicant has submitted a Tentative Tract Map application to allow the creation of nine air parcels on one land lot, also for residential condominium purposes. 

The nine-unit project has earlier been approved in a Consolidated Design Review in March. The application to be heard Wednesday only concerns the creation of air parcels that will allow the sale of each dwelling unit, and does not address the design or construction of the nine-unit project.
