Council Adopts Resolution Updating List of Officials and Employees Required to File Conflict of Interest Statements

The City Council has adopted a resolution updating the list of city officials and employees required to file reports under the Conflict of Interest Code.

The item was approved unanimously along with other items on the consent calendar during the City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 5.

The City is required by California Fair Political Practices Commission regulations, to update its Conflict of Interest Code by approving a resolution.

A conflict of interest code lists the position titles of those employees or officials who are required to provide personal financial information, assigns disclosure categories to these positions, and indicates the types of economic interest which must be reported, such as investments, interests in real estate, or sources of income or gifts.

The disclosure categories were established with intention of providing for the full range of possible disclosure situations while avoiding requirements that City employees disclose more than this necessary, according to the City’s Conflict of Interest Code.

Government Code Section 87302 exempts from the list City Council members, who are separately required to report their interest.

The action will have no fiscal impact, as per city staff report.
