On November 30, 2012, Councilmember Chris Holden resigned from his position on the Pasadena City Council representing District 3 to assume the duties of California State Assemblymember representing the 41st District.

The Pasadena City Council is currently engaged in a process to fill the District 3 vacancy by appointment, for a short-term period, until such time as the elected representative can be chosen by the voters later this year and assume office on May 6, 2013.

Five residents have filed the required applications to be considered for the temporary appointment. The five are Joel Bryant, Brian Carmody, Sharon Graham Higuera, Tarek Shawky and Craig Washington.

For more information about the applicants and the overall process, go to http://www.ci.pasadena.ca.us/District3/

More information will be announced as soon as possible regarding the appointment process, including City Council meeting when applicants will be interviewed.
