County 5th District Spokesman Stepping Down

Vega to become Barger's new spokesperson

The longtime spokesperson for the Los Angeles County 5th District Tony Bell is stepping down.

“This is my last week with Supervisor Barger’s office – after 18 great years,” Bell wrote in an email on Thursday. “Supervisor Barger is an extraordinary leader – with a great team that I’m proud to have served with.”

Bell started in 2001 under then-Supervisor Michael Antonovich. He was interviewed by Barger.

Michelle Vega will assume all communications duties and will be the official media contact. Vega, currently serves as the Public Affairs Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

In his time as the spokesperson, Bell formed relationships with the community, including members of nonprofits, the media and other levels of government.

Before his service in the County, Bell worked on several political campaigns, later moving onto public relations.

’I’m excited about the next chapter of my life and the new opportunities to come.,” Bell said.
