Pasadena continued to see a steady decline in new COVID-19 cases Tuesday with 69 new infections and no new deaths reported, officials said.

The city’s average daily infections dropped to 100, which was the lowest average recorded since Dec. 16, according to city documents.

The new figures brought the overall totals to 9,408 cases of the virus and 192 deaths.

Meanwhile, the new vaccination tracking section of the Pasadena Public Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard website went live on Tuesday, providing details regarding the status of vaccine distribution locally.

The total number of Pasadenans vaccinated with at least one dose was listed as 7,282, according to the data.

The city vaccination information can be accessed online at cityofpasadena.net/public-health/covid-19-dashboard/#vaccinations.

Huntington Hospital officials reported treating 198 COVID-19 patients on Tuesday, with 46 of them being treated in intensive care units.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 7,902 new infections and 186 additional fatalities on Tuesday.

In total, L.A. County has seen 1,031,874 COVID-19 infections and 14,122 deaths, the agency said in a written statement.

More than 7,300 patients were hospitalized with the virus count-wide on Tuesday, with 24% of them being treated in ICUs.

The county’s overall positivity rate reached 19%, with 5.27 million tests administered.

L.A. County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer said the growing distribution of vaccines is an important breakthrough toward ending the virus, but the public health threat remained very real.

“After an exhausting, year-long battle with this highly contagious and deadly virus, we now have a vaccine that is safe, effective and will save lives,” Ferrer said. “The vaccines also do more than protect the person getting vaccinated; the more people in a community who are vaccinated and protected from COVID-19, the harder it is for this virus to spread. However, this process will take several months, and so we ask for your understanding and patience.”

State health officials announced 23,794 new infections and 146 new deaths on Tuesday, bringing the statewide totals to 2,996,968 cases of COVID-19 and 33,739 fatalities.

The average positivity rate over the prior two weeks continued to inch downward, reaching 11.6%, according to the CDPH. The seven-day average dipped to 9.9%.

As of Tuesday, L.A. County accounted for 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 42% of the state’s fatalities.
