This Rose Bowl Game returns to the traditional battle between the Pac-12 and Big Ten champions when Utah meets Ohio State on Jan 1 in the iconic stadium.

The Rose Bowl opened its doors in 1922.

“We are ecstatic to have one of the great traditions in sports bring in the stadium’s centennial on January 1,” said Rose Bowl General Manager Darryl Dunn.

The game returns to Pasadena on Jan. 1 after it was moved to Arlington, Tex. last year during the pandemic.

The game had been played in Pasadena every year since World War II.

Utah is making its first appearance ever in the Rose Bowl Game.

Ohio State is making its 16th Rose Bowl appearance. Only USC, 34 appearances, and Michigan, 20, have appeared more than Ohio State.

The Buckeyes last appeared in the Rose Bow on Jan. 1, 2019, when they defeated Washington, 28-23.

The Buckeyes’ eight Rose Bowl victories are tied for second with Michigan behind USC’s 25.

University of Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan said last week expects to see the university’s fans show up in huge numbers for the game.
