Pasadena police will be fielding extra officers Friday with the specific goal of targeting drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The “saturation patrols” will take place throughout the city, the Pasadena Police Department said in a written statement.
“Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license,” according to the statement.
Funding for the campaign is being provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
