County officials today extended the closure of the popular Eaton Canyon hiking trail near Altadena through the end of the month to protect against further spread of the coronavirus.

[UPDATED] Eaton Canyon Trails & Natural Areas remain closed thru May 31, due to overwhelming crowds not following COVID-19 public health requirements for face coverings and Physical Distancing. Parking lots closed.

Review guidelines for all at https://parks.lacounty.gov/covid-19, the Los Angeles County Department of Park and Recreation tweeted Tuesday morning.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation closed down the Eaton Canyon trails. Video taken by a hiker that did not wish to be identified shows hikers flocked to the area and ignored social distancing guidelines. Many of them also refused to wear protective facial covering.
