Election Results Nearly Final as Count Continues

Nearly one week after Tuesday’s primary elections, local races have all but ended despite some outstanding ballots remaining.

Pasadena Now has called the mayoral race and all City Council races in the March Primary. That call will undoubtedly come as no surprise to election followers, considering the leads held by the frontrunners since the first round of results came in last Tuesday.

In December, City Clerk Mark Jomsky will swear in the winners — Mayor Victor Gordo, Tyron Hampton, Rick Cole, Justin Jones, and Steve Madison — at an organizational meeting.

Saturday’s election update offered no surprises in the races.

Victor Gordo continues to expand his lead over Allen Shay. Gordo now holds a 17,000 vote lead, 21,867 to 4,785.

In District 2, Rick Cole holds a 2,654 to 1,735 lead over Felicia Williams. In an email to supporters, Williams said she had reached out to Cole. “My hope is that we can meet soon to begin working together on the transition to ensure the highest level of services continue to be provided to the District,” Williams said.

In District 3, Justin Jones leads Brandon Lamar, 1,341 to 1,024.

Gene Masuda still hovers near 70% in the District 4 race. So far, 3,416 votes have been tallied for Masuda. Jonathan Horton has 1,248 votes, and John Doyle has 442 votes.

Meanwhile, Phlunté Riddle, who attempted to capture the 41st Assembly District seat, thanked her supporters.

“Election Day has passed, and I wanted to take a moment and give you my utmost gratitude for the constant support I have received throughout this campaign. This has been an incredible journey, and I could not have gotten this far without you,” Riddle said.

“I am so proud of what we have accomplished together. We received endorsements and support from various labor unions, elected officials, and community leaders from all across California. I cannot express how thankful I am to have so many people come together and stand by my side throughout my campaign. Thank you for putting your trust in me. I also want to thank my family, friends, and my team for working tirelessly to get my message out and for devoting their time and energy towards this campaign.”

“I am forever grateful for your continued friendship and support. Thank you again for everything.”
