Election Update Scheduled for Friday

The county is scheduled to continue its election updates by revealing more numbers on Friday.

This will be the third election update since the June 7 primary.

And as fewer and fewer votes remain to be counted, second place candidates are running out of chances to catch up.

In District 7, Jason Lyon remains ahead of Ciran Hadjian and Allen Shay.

Lyon has 51.6% of the vote.

If his lead holds Lyon would avoid facing Hadjian in a runoff election in November.

In District 3, incumbent John Kennedy is well ahead of challenger Brandon Lamar with more than 60% of the vote.

California state law requires the County Registrar to complete and certify results within 30 days. This provision of the law recognizes the complexity of completing the ballot count and conducting a thorough audit of the election results to ensure accuracy.

According to the LA County Registrar’s Office 365,820 LA County ballots still need to be processed in the June 7 election, including 365,000 vote by mail ballots, 570 conditional voter registration ballots and 250 provisional ballots.

The majority of vote by my ballots included in the estimate are those postmarked by Election Day and received in the mail through Tuesday, in addition to those returned at an Official Ballot Drop Box or Vote Center on Election Day.

All remaining ballots require validation – including signature verification, prior to clearance for processing.

Updates will be released on Tuesdays and Fridays until all the votes are counted.
