Elizabeth House Celebrates 30 Years of Empowering Pregnant and Parenting Women in Need

Elizabeth House, a Pasadena nonprofit located at 559 N. El Molino Ave., is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Elizabeth House will be holding an Annual Alumni Carnival on Saturday, June 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by Chick-Fil-A, Handel’s, Archer Rivas Foundation, and Sierra Madre Woman’s Club, will feature special announcements and presentations.

The organization’s anniversary theme is “30 Years of Love Embracing Life!”

For three decades, the organization has been dedicated to empowering pregnant and parenting women and their children, providing essential resources and support to break cycles of trauma and homelessness.

The nonprofit said it has served over 1,000 women, children, and grandchildren, offering shelter, case management, health and wellness services, scholarship funding, and mental health support. Elizabeth House is the only residential program in the San Gabriel Valley that accommodates both pregnant mothers and their children up to age 5.

Residential clients stay through the duration of their pregnancies and for up to four months after their babies are born. They receive comprehensive care, including intensive professional counseling, access to health care, parent education, job training, mother-to-mother mentoring, and baby supplies, all in a supportive, home-like setting.

In 2020, Elizabeth House launched a Community-Based Program through its Center for Mother & Child Wellbeing, providing services to pregnant and parenting women who do not need shelter but require support. The organization takes a trauma-informed approach, addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, and economic needs of the women and children they serve.

Through its programs, Elizabeth House strives to improve children’s and mother’s health, facilitate healthy early childhood development, support mother’s mental health, empower mothers for self-sufficiency, and create lasting connections to a healthy and resourced community. The organization values grace, hope, safety, love, and respect, and believes in the power of Christ to heal and transform lives.

The community is urged to stay tuned for more exciting events and initiatives planned throughout 2024 to commemorate this milestone.
