Pasadena residents appeared to take the traffic and noise from Tuesday’s soccer game and fireworks show at the Rose Bowl in stride.

According to District 6 Council Liaison Justin Chapman as of noon on Wednesday he received just three complaints regarding traffic and noise impacts related to the July 4 festivities in the Rose Bowl.

Instead of its usual AmericaFest fireworks show, the iconic stadium hosted a sold out soccer match between the LAFC and the LA Galaxy.

More than 82,000 fans packed the stadium.

The soccer match was originally scheduled for Feb. 25, but poor weather forced organizers to reschedule the event to Independence Day.

A fireworks show was held in the stadium after the show.

Only one person was arrested according to the Pasadena Police Department.

The Fire Dept. reported “nothing significant.”

“Very busy day but we staffed accordingly,” said City spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

The soccer game could be a preview of things to come.

Early last month, Rose Bowl General Manager Jens Weden told Pasadena Now that the annual fireworks extravaganza which has hosted in the Bowl just about every Fourth of July for almost a century,  lost more than half a million dollars in 2022 and would need to be reworked if it returns to the iconic stadium.

Neighbors living near the stadium have long complained about noise, traffic and unruly fans that attend event at the stadium.

“The Galaxy/LAFC soccer game and fireworks show at the Rose Bowl last night was a great birthday celebration for America!” said District 6 Councilmember Steve Madison. “We will continue to insist on appropriate mitigation measures to protect the surrounding neighborhoods from excessive traffic and noise.”
