Firefighters made quick work of a fire that broke out behind a strip mall in Pasadena on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The blaze was first reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. to the rear of a strip mall at Lake Avenue and Boylston Street.

The flames tore through flammable materials stored in the alleyway and caused electrical power lines to fall, city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

The fire singed the outside of a nearby building, but did not cause any internal damage, she said.

After declaring the fire out, officials summoned a Pasadena Water and Power crew to attend to the downed utility lines, Derderian said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation. No injuries were reported.
