Flintridge Sacred Heart senior Peyton DeJardin has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of California-Berkeley.
DeJardin is a two-time Prep Volleyball All-American as well as a three-time AVCA All-Academic Team honoree and a first team 2021 AVCA Best and Brightest Award.
DeJardin will play outside hitter for Head Coach Sam Crosson and pursue media studies.
“I want to join and help,” said DeJardin in a prepared statement. “They have amazing coaches.”
When DeJardin joins the program she will be fulfilling a lifetime dream of playing for the Bears.
Peyton’s father is an alum of the university and she spent many years at Cal camps. She attends Flintridge Sacred Heart following in the footsteps of her mother and two older sisters.
Her oldest sister, Ellis, is finishing her career playing for Yale University Volleyball. In addition, her twin brother Buckley from St. Francis High School in La Cañada recently committed to play basketball at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
“They are a great family,” Flintridge Sacred Heart Athletic Director Stephanie Contreras said. “Peyton is a very humble person with a passion for volleyball”.
Head coach Trent Tcheng knows that Cal will be getting a player that is always prepared for games and always willing to pass on that work ethic to younger players. She puts in the time and effort on and off the court. He said that the Bears will have a player that is “always hungry to learn.”
DeJardin also continues a tradition of the FSH volleyball program sending athletes to the collegiate level, with six in the last six years.
