Police arrested a man for possession of an unserialized “ghost gun” and high-capacity magazines after pulling him over for a traffic violation in Pasadena on Sunday night, officials said.
Officers pulled over a car about 9:22 p.m. at Sunset Avenue and Hammond Street for lack of a front license plate, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.
They immediately noticed an open container of alcohol inside the car, he said.
Further investigation turned up a loaded unserialized handgun, commonly known as a ghost gun.
Herbert Smith, 24, of Sherman Oaks was booked on suspicion of possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of large-capacity magazines.
According to Los Angeles County booking records, he was released from custody early Monday pending legal proceedings after posting a $35,000 bond.
