In non-related Coronavirus news, the County Registrar’s office released an election update Tuesday afternoon and as expected, things didn’t change much.

District 5 Councilman Victor Gordo still leads Mayor Terry Tornek in the mayor’s race with 46.09 percent (14,176 votes). Tornek has 41.99 percent of the vote, (12,915).

Major Williams is a distant third with 8.28 percent of the vote (2,547) Jason Hardin has garnered 3.64 percent (1,121).

Gordo and Tornek will meet in a runoff in November. The Mayor’s race is the only contest that will continue.

Incumbents Gene Masuda and Steve Madison remain out front with 59.34 percent and 52.49 percent of the vote in District 4 and District 6 respectively.

In District 2, Felicia Williams leads with 52.02 percent of the vote.

The county is counting mail in ballots filed across the county. The next update is scheduled for Friday.
