Grammy Award-Winner Gordon Goodwin to Perform in Sexson

Pasadena City College is jazzed to announce that Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band will be playing with PCC’s own Lancer Jazz Big Band and the Studio Jazz Ensemble on April 13, starting at 7:30 p.m. in Sexson Auditorium.

Populated by some of the Los Angeles area’s finest musicians, Big Phat Band takes the big band tradition to a new level, featuring various musical styles. Goodwin’s orchestrations can be heard in such films as “The Incredibles,” “National Treasure,” “Armageddon,” and the cult classic “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.”

The performance will be directed by Andrea Baker-Wilkerson, Performing and Communication Arts Division instructor.

Established in 2000, Big Phat Band combines jazz excellence with any musical style, and has been recognized for its talent with several Grammy nominations over the years.

Goodwin recently won the 2012 Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement for his Arrangement of George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue.

Admission is $15 general and $10 for students, staff, and seniors. Parking is available in any student lot for $2. You may purchase parking permits in lot vending machines.
