The owners of the Grocery Outlet in Altadena are hosting a farewell gathering on Friday before turning over the store to new owners next week, according to the company.

Mario and Michell Guajardo will spend their last day at the store, 2270 Lake Ave.,on Monday, the grocer said in a written statement. The chain location opened in late-2018.

After management learned customers were planning to organize a farewell party in the store’s parking lot, the business decided to join in the festivities by arranging for food trucks to visit.

The farewell party is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, with a ceremony planned at 5 p.m., organizers said.

“The best part of moving to Altadena is the relationships we made and the customers whom we met as friends and now have become family,” according to the statement, which was posted via social media. “These memories will forever be tattooed in our hearts because together we accomplished so much in a short window! I will bring my tissue as we say goodbye to our friends and family!”

The couple planned to move to Riverside County to be closer to family, they said.
