Guest Opinion | Councilmember John Kennedy: Treason Must Be Held to Account

Let me be clear, early last year, 2020, I was in Washington, DC and witnessed military personnel carriers, a squad of soldiers on every corner, vehicles with 50 caliber machine guns mounted on them, tanks, long guns, automatic rifles, humvees, legions of U.S. soldiers at the ready to reinforce, and much more.  … all to suppress the peaceful exercise of constitutionally protected speech under the umbrella of Black Lives Matter!?

Is there an America for radicalized white Americans and another for peaceful protesting Black, Brown, Red, Yellow and White Americans?

What is it about our black skin that offends? Maybe it is really about our intellectual capacity, ability to adapt, the sheer will to survive and thrive in systems that are oftentimes unfair, unjust and singularly evil, especially to the poor, because of skin color and also because of economic position in society, without regard to race.

White privilege was on full display on 6 January 2021 with a sea of white hoodlums, confederates and seditionists ransacking the scared halls of the United States Capitol, all at the direction of the President of the United States. Complicity!!! Treason must be held to account!!!

Wake up Appalachian Mountains in the west (including the Blue Ridge, Great Smoky Mountains), and the central Piedmont Plateau and The South!!!  Stop the hate and join justice! We are not your enemy!  Ignorance is our enemy!  Let’s pause and start building one America under God!

Let’s invest trillions of dollars in rural areas, farm-belt regions, and the minority inner-cities.  If we can spend $2.5 trillion dollars in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places in that region of the world, certainly we can invest an equal amount  or much more in the American People!  … not black, brown, red or white America, but the United States of America!

America’s internal and external enemies are watching!!!

It will take all of us sitting down and mapping out a way forward to protect and advance AMERICA! If you love America, We must do this! Yes, WE THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!
