A gunman robbed a man of his wallet in Pasadena on Friday night, but ultimately ran off empty-handed after realizing the wallet contained no money, police said.
The crime unfolded about 8 p.m. as the victim was loading shopping bags into the trunk of his car in the 700 block of East Colorado Boulevard, according to Pasadena police Lt. Marie Sell.
A man brandishing a handgun approached the victim and demanded his wallet, she said. The victim complied.
The robber then looked inside the wallet, which contained no money, before tossing it to the ground and fleeing empty-handed, she said.
A detailed suspect description was not available Saturday morning.
