A pretrial hearing is scheduled today for Corey Lavelle Green, who is accused of killing his girlfriend and setting her Pasadena apartment on fire in September 2011.
The pretrial hearing is scheduled for Dept. E of the Pasadena Courthouse, 300 E. Walnut St.
Green, 28, also faces burglary and arson charges in connection with the Sept. 30, 2011 killing of Maria Donnelly, 27. Police arrested Green in October 2011, but was released when authorities did not have enough information to hold him, police told the Pasadena Sun.
Green, who had prior convictions for domestic violence, was arrested again Dec. 21, 2011.
Police told the Sun that Green and Donnelly were reportedly in a relationship at the time of the killing and that neighbors around the time of the attack occasionally heard loud arguments coming from Donnelly’s apartment, which was near Pasadena City College.
Pasadena firefighters discovered Donnelly’s body when they were dispatched to the fire on South Meredith Avenue on Sept. 30, 2011. Donnelly died of injuries to her head, neck and chest, Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra told the newspaper.
