A potentially dangerous heat wave is set to scorch Southern California this week, with temperatures expected to peak on Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles.
The Western San Fernando Valley will be the first to feel the intense heat, with temperatures around Woodland Hills projected to reach 107 degrees Fahrenheit by Tuesday.
Pasadena will be about 10 degrees cooler than that until Thursday when it will join the 100 Club and should peak out at about 102°.
Friday will drop but only slightly to 100°
The weather service warns that these conditions could pose significant health risks, especially for vulnerable populations. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and check on elderly neighbors and those without air conditioning.
No rain is in the forecast, but a cooling trend is anticipated for next weekend, offering some relief from the intense heat.
