Here’s What Pasadena’s Revised Safer at Home Order Allows and Does Not Allow

Here’s what’s open and what’s closed and what you can and cannot do according to the order:

Besides exceptions for essential businesses, all other business are closed.

Here are the exemptions:

Auto repair and supply shops: including gas stations, bicycle repair shops and related facilities.

Child-care: facilities providing services that enable employees exempted by this order to work. To the extent possible, child-care facilities must operate under the following mandatory conditions:
Child care, with restrictions, groups of 12 or fewer. Children cannot change groups.
If there is more than one group, each group should be in separate rooms.
Groups shall not mix.
Child-care providers shall remain solely with one group of children.

Construction: workers who support construction, operation, inspection and maintenance of construction sites and construction projects, including for housing.

Educational institutions: For the purposes of facilitating distance learning, providing meals for pickup or performing essential functions, as long as social distancing is practiced.

Financial institutions
Professional services, such as legal, payroll or accounting services, when needed to assist with legally mandated activities, and the permitting, inspection, construction, transfer and recording of ownership of housing, including residential and commercial real estate.

Home-based care: Places that provide home-based care for seniors, adults, disabled persons or children.

Home repair services: electricians, exterminators, custodians, plumbers, janitors, handymen, funeral home workers, moving services, heating-ventilation-air conditioning installers and carpenters.

Hotels: motels, shared rental units and similar facilities.

Insurance companies

Laundromats and dry cleaners

Media outlets: TV, radio, newspapers, magazine, podcasts and journalism activities.

Post offices: businesses providing mailing and shipping services, including post office boxes.

Private food processors: confectioners, food packagers, food testing labs that are not open to the public, including farming, livestock and fishing.

Restaurants: Delivery or takeout. Sit down service is prohibited, cafeterias, commissaries and restaurants within hospitals, nursing homes and other licensed care facilities can remain open, as long as social distancing is practiced.

Shelters: Places that provide social services, including gang prevention and intervention, domestic violence and homeless service agencies.

Stores: Grocery stores, farmers markets, including farm and produce stands, food banks and other places that sell canned foods, fry goods, fresh produce and pet supplies, and other household consumer products, including cleaning or personal care product and places that sell products needed to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operations of homes.
Businesses that ship, truck or provide logistical support or deliver groceries, food, goods or services to residences, essential businesses, healthcare operations and essential infrastructure.

Vegetation services: tree maintenance, landscapers, gardeners, property managers, private security personnel and other service providers who provide services to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operation to properties and other essential businesses.

Other essential businesses that remain open:

Firms that supply office or computer products needed by people who work from home.

Businesses that supply other essential businesses with support or supplies needed to operate.

Rules and standards:
Essential businesses must practice social distancing.

Provide hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol or hand-washing facilities with soap and water

Post a sign at the entrance instructing people to go away if they have symptoms of illness, such as having a fever or cough

Clean and sanitize the premises

The following is prohibited or ordered closed:
All gatherings are banned
Nail and hair salons, includes barber shops, nail salons, etc.
Golf courses
Indoor malls and shopping centers
Bars
Gyms
Drive-ins and Movie theaters
Indoor and outdoor playgrounds, except at child-care centers.
Flea markets and swap meets

You can:

• Go to the grocery, convenience or warehouse store
• Go to the pharmacy to pick up medications and other healthcare necessities
• Go to medical appointments (check with your doctor or provider first)
• Go to a restaurant for take-out, delivery or drive-thru
• Care or support a friend or family member
• Take a walk, ride your bike, hike, jog and be in nature for exercise — just keep at least six feet between you and others in the community.
• Walk your pets and take them to the veterinarian if necessary
• Help someone to get necessary supplies.

Residents cannot:
• Go to work unless you are providing essential services as defined by this order
• Visit friends and family if there is no urgent need
• Visit loved ones in the hospital, nursing home, skilled nursing facility.
