Getting services at Hillsides, a Southern California foster care and mental health charity, just got easier with a new centralized intake number for residential and outpatient mental health services. The new intake number is 323-274-3075.

This number will be available for potential clients seeking services in Baldwin Park, Echo Park, East Los Angeles, and South Pasadena. Hillsides and its affiliate Bienvenidos offers an array of community-based programs and services in these locations through its Family Resource Centers.

The number will also function for potential clients seeking services at the charity’s Peer Resource Center in Pasadena, a one-stop shop for transition-aged youth ages 16-25 and for those seeking services at Hillsides Residential Treatment Services, a short-term residential therapeutic program in Pasadena that offers a safe and stable environment to children who cannot live at home, have experienced trauma, or have emotional and/or behavioral challenges.

The new phone line will have a menu of services in both English and Spanish.

“The new centralized intake number will streamline the intake process and help more clients get the services they need in a timely manner,” said Joseph Tesoro, Hillsides intake and referral director. “People call when they are in a crisis. If you can get a person in for services when they have the momentum, they are much more likely to follow through with the appointment and get the help they need.”

Clients will be able to receive the following services through the centralized intake phone number:

*Intake and assessment
*Individual, group, and family therapy
*Parenting, domestic violence, and substance abuse groups
*Case management
*Psychological testing
*Psychiatric evaluation
*Psychotropic medication management
*Resource and referrals
*Crisis intervention
*Walk-in services
*Community enrichment programs
*Residential treatment for children unable to live at home

The centralized intake phone number is just one of many recent improvements Hillsides has made to its intake process to better serve clients. In recent years, the department has increased the amount of referrals, decreased the wait time for receiving services, and increased the access points to services. In addition, the staff has grown from two full-time employees to eight full-time positions and three part-time contract positions.

Clients can also seek services at Hillsides by emailing intake@ hillsides.org, or through the Hillsides website, www.hillsides.org, under the prompt “Need Services?”
