Hogarth Wins Pasadena City Senior Golf Championship Again

Northridge native Tim Hogarth won by two strokes Friday over Pasadenan Goran Hagegard and Eddie Cho of Los Angeles to capture the Pasadena City Senior Golf Championship for the second straight year at Brookside Golf Club. 

Hogarth, the 1996 USGA Public Links champion, has won the Pasadena City Championship seven times, the Los Angeles City Championship 10 times, and the Southern California Mid-Amateur Championship and the Kelly Cup Invitational four times each — just a few of his numerous other titles.

Hogarth, 55, posted a winning score of 72-67—139, three-under par, while Cho finished at 71-70 — 141, and Hagegard wound up at 68-73 — 141. Last year, he posted an 11-stroke victory over two-time USGA Mid-Am semifinalist Dan Sullivan to win the Pasadena City Golf Championship, under very strict COVID-19 protocols — no spectators were allowed. 

Another Pasadena golfer, Hawk Chenoeth, captured fourth at 71-71—142. Craig Calkins of Manhattan Beach shot 73-70—143, Neil Moore of Redondo Beach finished at 72-71 — 143, and Mel Collins of Long Beach wound up at 70-73 — 143 to tie for fifth place. 

Two weeks ago, Hogarth was ousted by No. 64 seed Kory Frost in a 21-hole thriller in the first round of match play, after taking medalist honors at the U.S. Senior Amateur at the Country Club of Detroit with a record-tying total of 134 (69-65).

The Pasadena City Senior Tournament is a 36-hole stroke play event played at Brookside Golf Course 2 on Thursday, and Course 1 the next day. 

The tournament is open to men aged 50 or over with a low index ranging from 4.1 to 31.8.  Entrants with higher indexes are required to play down to a 31.8 handicap index.
