A homeless woman was cited for battery on a police officer after she spat on a Pasadena police officer’s face twice on Monday evening.

The incidents happened Monday at 6:38 p.m. in the 400 block of South Raymond Ave. after police were called to a disturbance at a local business, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Tim Bundy.

The responding officer found a transient woman causing a disruption and tried to calm her down by offering her food and a drink.

As the officer bent over to give the items to the woman, the woman reportedly spat on the officer’s face. The officer called for backup and arrested the woman, who was non-ambulatory and was experiencing medical issues, according to Bundy.

Moments later the woman spat on the officer’s face again as she was being placed in the backseat of the police vehicle.

The officer drove the woman, who was 59 years old, the short distance to Huntington Hospital for treatment of her medical issues and cited her for battery on a police officer.

The woman was released to the hospital for medical care and will have to answer in court for her actions. The officer reported no injuries.
