Law enforcement officers from local, county, state, federal, and military agencies by the hundreds are expected to lace up their running shoes in Pasadena’s Desiderio Neighborhood Park for the Special Olympics Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday, and the public is invited to join.

This event, beginning under the iconic Colorado Street Bridge at 12:30 p.m., is a major fundraiser for the Special Olympics.

This 3-mile run/walk isn’t just for athletes in peak condition. You don’t have to sprint; a leisurely pace is welcome, and participants can even choose to bike the course. It’s all about raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics Southern California, a critical resource for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is known globally for its law enforcement-focused charitable activities, making it the largest of its kind in the world.

The 2023 Torch Run season will feature various events throughout California, all working towards raising thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Northern California, ensuring continued support for the many programs and services they provide to athletes.

Anyone interested in participating in this notable event can register via the official LETR for Special Olympics website or the Special Olympics Southern California website. Both sites offer comprehensive information on how to register, including details on the registration fee and deadlines.

Participants are also encouraged to create a fundraising page to further contribute to the cause.

For additional details, Officer Jarvis Shelby is available at (626) 744-3871 to answer any inquiries.
