Blood donors this month will receive a $5 gift card to Starbucks or In-N-Out, or a Blood Donor t-shirt, when they step up to donate at Huntington Hospital’s Blood Donor Center in Pasadena.

Even during COVID-19, blood donation is still a safe practice, the hospital said in a statement. There is no evidence the Coronavirus is transmissible by blood transfusion, and there have been no reported cases of transfusion transmission for any respiratory virus, including COVID-19, the statement said.

In addition, at each blood drive and at the Blood Donor Center, Huntington Hospital employees follow thorough safety protocols to ensure blood recipient safety, as well as staff and donor safety.

People who have traveled to China, including Hong Kong and Macau, South Korea, Japan, Italy, or Iran in the last 28 days are advised to not donate blood at this time. They may be eligible to donate four weeks after any of those countries.

Huntington Hospital’s Blood Donor Center is located at 800 S. Fairmount Ave. in Pasadena. Parking entrance is on Bellefontaine Street. Parking will be validated.

Blood Donor Center hours are 9:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Center will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (626) 397-5422. The Blood Donor Center is taking donations by appointment only.

Also, visit the hospital’s blood donation page for more information, www.huntingtonhospital.org/support-us/donate-blood/.
