Mayor Victor Gordo discussed COVID-19 vaccinations in his second backyard chat with the community video, this one issued late Friday from his home in the Orange Heights neighborhood.

Gordo said he planned to send a letter to Governor Gavin Newsom “demanding that we immediately receive more vaccine in Pasadena.”

“This is an important moment in time. We need to redouble our efforts to gain access to vaccine and also to ensure that we have appropriate and effective and quick distribution for the residents of Pasadena.”

Gordo said the community should continue to wear masks and follow safety protocols as “as we wait for the mass distribution of the vaccine.”

He also said local medical professionals will be able to help in the effort.

“As we are able to, we intend to distribute vaccine to private medical offices, small health providers who are registered and qualified to distribute the vaccine to patients,” he said.

The mayor said mass vaccination events are being discussed.

“We’re also engaged in an effort and discussions with the County of Los Angeles, specifically with the LA County Fire Department, trying to bring more vaccine to a mass distribution center that might be located, for example, at the Rose Bowl, [or] at other city facilities within the city of Pasadena, with the goal being to get more vaccine into the resident’s arms as quickly as possible.”
