A La Salle High School student will be representing Pasadena overseas this summer as a young soccer player.

Taylor Mediano, of Sierra Madre, will be playing with her club soccer team for the Adidas National Training Program in London, England from August 14-23.

Mediano, who was invited to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at Monday night’s City Council meeting in recognition of her honor, began playing soccer with the American Youth Soccer Organization when she was nine years old.

Now a junior in high school, Mediano joined club soccer when she was 12 and has been playing ever since. She is also a member of her school’s soccer team, on which she has lettered for two years.

Mediano plays defense but has recently begun to play as a forward. She was selected to play in England by the girls coaching staff of her club team, Los Angeles Futbol Club CHELSEA.

“I feel extremely fortunate to have been chosen to go on this trip,” Mediano said. “It is a once in a life time opportunity.”
