Some children in La Casa Esperanza

On Saturday, May 12th a team from Knox will head down to Tijuana, Mexico to spend the day with the Children at La Casa de Esperanza. On this trip Knox’ group will be leading songs, games, crafts, and serving a meal for the children. There will also be opportunities to do some work projects around the campus. Those who wish to join will meet at Knox at 6:30am for departure and return around 9:00 p.m.

La Casa de Esperanza opened as an orphanage in 1956. The directors Antonio Lara Cardenas and Alejandra Judith Rivera de Lara, both longtime Presbyterians, have worked there since 1989. The Casa ordinarily has between 50 and 60 children living at the orphanage at any given time. Over the last two decades, Casa has brought hope to roughly 500 children.

The cost for this trip is $35 per person or $75 per family. The minimum age is five years old. Please contact the church office to sign up for this trip at knoxpasadena@att.net or (626) 449-2144. Watch for information regarding a fall trip which has been tentatively scheduled for October 13, 2012.  For more information about La Casa go to http://casaorphanage.com or www.spiritofcasa.org.
