LACM Alumnus Drew Louis Wins Prestigious LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award

A graduate of Pasadena-based Los Angeles College of Music has been honored with the prized LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award presented by the Music Forward Foundation. 

Drew Louis earned the coveted award, which recognizes Louis’s remarkable contributions to the music industry and his dedication to the LGBTQ+ community.

On Thursday, October 19 at 12:00 noon, Live Nation is hosting the LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Showcase to recognize and celebrate Drew and other outstanding artists. Link here to register.

Reflecting on his musical journey, Louis shares, “My voice is one that is not afraid to make music that appeals to everyone while holding strong in my truth and my messaging.”

Erin Workman, LACM Executive Vice President and Department Head of Songwriting & Music Business, expressed pride in Louis’s achievements. 

“The Los Angeles College of Music takes immense pride in fostering diverse talent and nurturing the creative spirit of its students,” said Workman said.

“Seeing graduates of LACM thrive and succeed in the industry is one of the most rewarding aspects of the work we do. Drew exemplifies the institution’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the music industry, and we couldn’t be more proud that he is part of the LACM community!”

The Music Forward Foundation, part of the House of Blues and Live Nation family, is dedicated to transforming young lives. It recently announced the 2023 LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award, celebrating 15 exceptional artists. Louis and the other 14 recipients have been granted $10,000 to further enhance their artistic endeavors and amplify their unique voices.

Louis, a singer, songwriter, and producer, is best known for his work with Sony Music’s The Gospellers and IZ*ONE’s YENA. He has collaborated with renowned industry figures including Matt Beckley (Camila Cabello – “Havana”), Francis Karel (2M+ – Tik Tok), and Trinity the Tuck (RuPaul’s Drag Race).

In addition to these achievements, Louis has gained recognition as an artist by performing at WEHO Pride in June 2023. His single “Love So Right” released in the same month gained attention from Galore Magazine.
