Friends and loved ones continue coming to grips with the death of a 33-year-old Pasadena man who was killed in a motorcycle crash while on his way home from work earlier this month.

Marques Anthony Crosby died after his motorcycle struck a tree at about 8 p.m. Oct. 1 at El Molino Avenue and Woodland Road, according to Pasadena Police Department and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner officials. He succumbed to his injuries a short time later at a hospital.

Coroner’s investigators have since determined he died from blunt head trauma, and the death was ruled accidental.

Marques Crosby’s mother, Tina Crosby, said he was on his way home from work and was nearly home when the crash took place.

“He was my only child and I am completely broken,” she said. “I am now trying to cope with each new day, but it’s a nightmare.”

A fundraiser set up by fellow construction workers with the Carpenters Local 213 online at https://www.gofundme.com/f/marques-crosby has garnered more than $8,000 in donations to help his family as of Wednesday afternoon.

“He loved his job with the Local 213 union and spoke highly of all his union brothers and his foreman,” the mother said in a posting on the memorial website.

“He was very proud of being part of the construction team that is putting up the 6th Street bridge in downtown Los Angeles,” she added.

Marques Crosby also loved the city of Pasadena, where he was born and raised, Tina Crosby said.

Tina Crosby said she is German and her son’s father is African American, and that Marques “fully embraced both cultures.”

“If you lined up his friends, it would literally look like the United Nations,” she wrote.

“He was a very laid back, kind and good-hearted young man. He was an avid Germany and Bayern Munich soccer fan, and he loved the Lakers and Dodgers,” she continued. “Marques enjoyed nature and loved hiking and riding his motorcycle down PCH. Please say a little prayer for me and also for him. I’d appreciate that so much.”

The crash was being investigated by the Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
