The series of rainstorms that has swept across the County since mid-December continues Sunday, with heavier rain in Pasadena forecast for Monday night and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Water-logged ground could produce increasing amounts of water and mud runoff. The Pasadena Fire Dept. reached out by Twitter Saturday to remind Pasadenans that two fire stations offer free sandbags and sand. Up to 10 bags are available per resident. Fire personnel are available to assist with loading if they’re not responding to a call.

Fire Station 37 is located in East Pasadena at 3430 E. Foothill Blvd.; Fire Station 38 is in West Pasadena at 1150 Linda Vista Ave.

NWS forecasters said unsettled weather will set up across the region through Wednesday, with the next significant storm on tap late Monday into Tuesday. A brief lull is expected by Wednesday or Thursday with potentially active weather returning next weekend.

Sunday rain will be light, likely less than a tenth of an inch.

It still appears as though the wettest part of the system will move through the region Monday night and Tuesday, according to the NWS, which predicted 1.1 to 1.3 inches of rain in Los Angeles County Monday night and another 1 inch on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms are possible at any time Monday night or Tuesday, forecasters added.

They expected peak rainfall rates of 0.5 to 1 inch per hour Monday night into Tuesday across the region, but local rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are certainly possible .
