LIVE BLOGGING WITH EDDIE RIVERA | Dodgers Stop the Giants, 5-0; May Allows No Hits in His Five-inning Appearance

Published on Friday, September 16, 2022 | 10:32 pm

The Dodgers added insult to injury Friday as they shut out the Giants 5-0, with a masterful performance, led by Dustin May’s no-hit performance. He left the game after five innings, leading 4-0, having thrown 69 pitches, 40 of them strikes.

Following his return from elbow surgery, manager Dave Roberts has limited his appearances to 75 pitches

Relievers Vesia, Caleb Ferguson and Phil Bickford then expertly mopped up the Giants after May’s departure.

The Dodgers did the bulk of their damage in the fourth inning with a fistful of hits from Trea Turner, Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger. Freddie Freeman scored Bellinger with a single, then a double, when he kept running, which ended up being an out, as he was tagged at second. You had to be there.

The Dodgers face the Giants again tomorrow and Sunday, and will then return to Dodger Stadium for their next-to-last home stand. Their magic number is 10 to achieve the first seed and home field advantage for the upcoming playoffs.
