LIVE BLOGGING WITH EDDIE RIVERA|Dodgers Stop the Mets, 3-2 in Gritty Performance

Team hopes to gain ground on Los Gigantes

In a game that was tough and closer than it needed to be, the Dodgers stepped up to beat the New York Mets 3-2, with standup performances from pitcher Walker Beuhler, Trea “Smooth Slide” Turner, Alex Vezia, and venerable reliever Kenley Jansen.

Walker Buehler earned his 13th victory against only two losses, and was cruising comfortably until the eighth when a single by Pete Alonso  scored Mazeika, and brought the Mets within 1.

Reliever Vezia worked his way out of a jam in the eighth, when he came aboard with two runners on base. He struck out JD Davis to end the threat.

From there, it was all Kenley Jansen, who closed the lid down tightly on the Mets with a sparkling shutdown, 1,2,3 performance to end the game, and give the Dodgers their eighth straight victory.

The teams met again tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.

Here’s how we blogged it.
