[UPDATED] Starting this week, people can once again speak at Pasadena City Council meetings.

According to the agenda for Wednesday’s annual joint meeting with Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, local residents may provide live public comment by submitting a speaker card prior to the start of public comment on a given item to the following webpage:

www.cityofpasadena.net/city-clerk/public-comment.

According to the agenda, after submitting a public speaker card, local residents should join the virtual meeting after the published start time with a computer, another electronic device, or by telephone.

The same name or telephone number on the speaker card should be used for the virtual meeting so that city officials can locate and unmute the speaker.

City staff has been reading public comments since the pandemic prevented the public from attending meetings last year. Last Monday, City Clerk Mark Jomsky announced- public comments would be returning.

“This is a trial phase for this new public comment process as the city works to refine and improve public comment procedures during this pandemic,” Jomsky read from a prepared statement at Monday’s council meeting.

Each public comment is limited to three minutes. The mayor and council may limit this time if necessary.
