Almost two dozen Pasadena-area churches have called for a peaceful vigil and protest at 7 p.m. Sunday night in memory of George Floyd.

The non-violent vigil and protest will feature prayer, remarks from local leaders, candle lightening, and eight minutes of sustained noise to commemorate the eight minutes George Floyd was choked by Minneapolis police.

All in attendance are asked to wear masks, bring a candle and a noisemaker, and adhere to social distancing. The event is expected to end before 8 pm (in the event that a curfew is enacted).

The event is planned for the west-side steps of Pasadena City Hall, 100 Garfield Ave.
